We used this rear view mirror to think about what we might do differently if we could have our time again. We were asked these questions: What are some of your most memorable moments? Is there anything you’d like to change about those moments? Something to make them better? What is something you wish you would have known in those moments or If you could travel back in time to that moment, what would you tell yourself? We created our own scenes in our Writer's Notebook and here is one of our finished mirrors.
We are a Year 5 class at Mangapapa School in Gisborne, New Zealand. We are the first city in the world to greet the sun each day.

Collaborative Owls
These owls were created with a collaborative group. There were lots of decisions to be made and we had to really use our Learner Asset of being a great collaborator to complete the piece. We had to respect the ideas of others and adapt to working with different learners. We shared our amazing Owls at our Learner Led Conferences.

If I Were a Tree During the Fall Season
For this writing activity we learned how to take a selfie and crop it using the circle tool shape. We created a piece of writing about what life would be like if we were an autumn tree. When the rest of our class have completed their writing we will share it as a collaborative digital book.

Breakouts
Our Learning Neighbourhood experience Breakouts twice a term. It is a time when teachers choose something they are passionate about to teach us. It might be art, science, PE, ICT dance, drama etc. We get to sign up for whatever we like. We have learnt how to create Friendship Bracelets, make Slime, create a Sasa, create Christmas drawings. We then share what we have learnt with our friends in our Neighbourhood or with our families.
